What You'll Learn

Three Chapters.
One Standard.

The presentation covers accessibility legislation, product compliance and hands-on assessment. Each chapter builds on the previous to give a complete understanding of accessible design requirements in Australia.

Chapter 01
Accessibility Principles
Key accessibility principles and the legislative framework. The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), state equal opportunity acts, and the standards hierarchy: Acts > Standards > Industry Standards > Guidelines. Understanding how these layers interact and where your obligations sit.
Chapter 02
TGSI & Nosing Design and Compliance
Luminance contrast requirements (30% for integrated, 45% for discrete, 60% for composite TGSIs). Slip resistance testing to AS 4586 including P-class and R-class ratings. Dimensional requirements for tactile indicators and stair nosings. Design considerations and correct placement.
Chapter 03
Assessment & Workshop
Hands-on assessment and interactive workshop to reinforce the learning from Chapters 1 and 2. Review real-world case studies, assess sample products, and work through compliance scenarios relevant to your current projects.
