AS 1428.1:2021
Design for Access and Mobility — General Requirements
The primary standard for accessible design in buildings. Covers requirements for luminance contrast, tactile ground surface indicators, stair nosings, handrails, ramps, doorways and circulation spaces. Referenced by the NCC as a deemed-to-satisfy solution.

Means to Assist the Orientation of People with Vision Impairment — Tactile Ground Surface Indicators
The specific standard for TGSI design and placement. Defines warning and directional tactile patterns, stud dimensions, spacing requirements, placement distances from hazards, and luminance contrast requirements using the Bowman-Sapolinski equation.

Slip Resistance Classification of New Pedestrian Surface Materials
Classifies floor surfaces by their slip resistance using the wet pendulum test and the oil-wet inclining platform test. Korb TGSIs, entry matting and most stair nosings are rated P5 — the highest pedestrian slip resistance rating; striped nosing profiles and inserts are rated P4.

Design for Access and Mobility — Communication for People Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Covers hearing augmentation, visual alarms, and communication systems in public buildings. While not directly related to TGSI, it forms part of the broader accessibility framework that Korb products support.

Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks — Facilities for Persons with Disabilities
Specifies TGSI requirements at lift landings, escalators and moving walkways. Warning tactiles must be installed at the top and bottom of escalators and at lift entries — a common specification point for Korb products.

Parking Facilities — Off-Street Parking for People with Disabilities
Covers accessible parking bay design including TGSI requirements for paths of travel from parking to building entries. Directional tactiles guide from parking to accessible entries; warning tactiles mark hazards.
